Comrades In Arms

If you want to know about Governments all you need to know is two words: Governments lie. I.F. Stone (1907-1989)

There isn't a day goes by we don't hear or read about tariffs. The word tariff is just a fancy way of saying rate or fee. Let's not kid ourselves, it's a fucking tax. U.S President Trump started the anxiety and it appears the trade war is far from ending.

Obviously, Trump has his reasons. Personally, I think he's gone a bit too far. However, Canada has used tariffs for protectionism and retaliatory purposes, especially with Dairy Marketing Boards for many years. Tariffs on imported beer are also ridiculously a high price. More on that in a moment.

These manipulating operators claim there are many advantages of the fees. However they restrict competition, create high prices and limit choices.

Now we'll talk about adult beverages, specifically beer. We all know alcohol is outrageously overpriced in this "Great" White North. Our "beloved" governments swear the reason for high taxes on booze is to fund the O.H.I.P. (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) system. They also claim it enhances social responsibility. As far as I'm concerned the latter is absolute insanity.

Let's take a trip in my time machine to July 22, 1989. My ex-wife and I hosted a birthday party for our first son. He was one year old. We invited family, relatives and friends and I supplied all the food as well as the refreshments. It was without a doubt a gala event.

For the past couple of years I was drinking American canned beer purchased at the L.C.B.O. (Liquor Control Board of Ontario). Various suds such as Milwaukee's Best, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Schlitz and Old Milwaukee cost $16 or $17 for a case of twenty-four. A lot cheaper than Canadian beer, so I bought five cases for my son's party.

However, like everything, all good things must come to an end. A few months later the dictatorial big Canadian Breweries (Molson, Labatts and Sleemans) cried and whined (like the spoiled brats they are) to the Provincial government, specifically to the Provincial Treasurer Robert Nixon.

His initial reply to the Breweries was, "You just have to sharpen your pencils." I thought fantastic, excellent. Finally competition and a politician with balls as well as a common sense attitude.

As usual, the cheap American beer was short-lived. As usual Nixon was no different from most legislators. He reneged on his decision and sided with the feeble, snowflake breweries.

He established a high tax for each case. So now the American suds was more expensive than Canadian brew. Once again a two-faced politician siding with the breweries who are leeches.

Getting back to tariffs, let's take a peek at some international beer sold in Ontario. Beverages such as Sappora (Japan), Heineken (Dutch), Red Stripe (Jamaica and Netherlands), Corona (Mexico) as well as Stella Artois (Belgium) are more expensive than Canadian beer. Why? Because of fucking Canadian tariffs, provincial regulations and monopolies, which all amount to the ridiculous price.

Epilogue

Canadians have been financially abused and swindled by government and private business. We accept it because in most cases there's diddly-squat we can do about it. So just remember, if you're sitting back having a Corona or Heineken or enjoying a glass of milk and a fried egg sandwich, Trump isn't the only individual with a tariff obsession.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Is It Really Over When Its Over?

Ask yourself whether the dream of heaven and greatness should be waiting for us in our graves - or whether it should be our here and now and on this earth. Ayn Rand (1905-1982)

A lot of people are raised with the impression if you're good you go to heaven and if you're bad you go to hell. What we've been told about the garden of delights, it is a wonderful, marvelous and perfect Kingdom. Individuals experience such feelings like bliss, ecstasy, joy and paradise every day for the remainder of their new lives.

However, there is a slight problem with that notion. The complication being no one has returned to enlighten us with their adventure. Is it hearsay and overplay or accurate as well as the absolute truth. Maybe when you pass away people go into a deep sleep and never wake up. I'll get back to that in a moment.

According to the internet it's estimated 5.8 billion or 84% of the world's population is associated with a religious group with Christianity holding top spot.

As I have stated before I'm agnostic. I believe Charles Darwin's (1809-1888) theory. Simply stated, his view is species gradually change and diversify over generations. It's difficult for me to believe the Adam and Eve story. I find it even harder to accept Adam's age when he died. One record said 930 years old. Another one stated 130 years old. There is no record of Eve's age when she passed on. But I did read Moses lived to be 120 years old.

I also have difficulty accepting Bible stories, for example Noah's Ark, Jonah and the Whale, Daniel In The Lions Den and Moses paring the Red Sea.

Regarding life after death, I strongly believe the entire universe, especially the stars, play a major role just like climate change. If you have been a decent and honest person you'll be transported to your most favourite as well as enjoyable time in your first life, in addition it will last forever.

At our age (I'm 71 years old) our ships are sinking. I workout at the gym five days a week (Mon.-Fri.). I've met a lot of neighbourly folks while I have exercised. One fellow always complains to me while he's on the stationary bike. Without fail he says, "I hate doing the bike. It's the worst 15 minutes of my life." Like clockwork I reply, "Be thankful you can do the bike. All your body parts are functioning very well."

Another tale I lack faith in is the second coming of Christ. "They" have been predicting his return for 2000 years. Without a doubt it would be fantastic if he did make an appearance fixing everything and making a perfect world but...

I used to think why our education system didn't teach us about death while we were enrolled in high school. Finally I realized everybody deals with death in their own way.

Epilogue

I'll leave you folks with this final segment. Another fabulous quote from the brilliant 1986 movie titled "Platoon". Rhah (Francesco Quinn 1963-) is talking to his fellow G.I.'s and says, "Elias didn't ask you to fight his battles for him. And if there's a heaven and God, I hope there is, I know he's sitting up there drunk as a fucking monkey and smoking shit because he done left his pains down here."

In Years Gone By

"Cities are everywhere in decline. Trade, industry and agriculture bend under the weight of taxation." -- Winston Churchill (1874-1965)

WHO YOU GONNA CALL? Certainly not politicians. For over six- and one-half decades I have resided in Hamilton, Ontario. During a period of time (1970's, 1980's and early 1990's) it was a fairly decent place to live as well as work. For my short time (six years) I was a Firefighter for the once Ambitious City (refers to one of Hamilton's nicknames). I was very proud of the metropolis and dedicated to my job.

The city was mainly prospering and flourishing in the 70's and 80's. Even though inflation was high, Steel Town was developing and progressing. Economically it was suitable for most people. Groceries, consumer goods, alcohol and tobacco had reasonable prices. There were plenty of jobs and crime was held to a minimum. Unfortunately, some big companies permanently closed their doors such as Hoover Suction Sweeper - 1972, Canadian Canners - 1986 and Otis Elevator - 1987. International Harvester as well as Susan Shoes Industries permanently folded in 1992 and 1994 respectively.

More upsetting was the closure of downtown department stores like Graftons - 1973, The Right House - 1983, Robinsons - 1983, Zellers - 1988, Woolworths - 1990 and Kresges - 1999. Customers were in their heyday shopping at those stores. Supposedly the reasons for the stores closing were the high dollar, high energy prices and overseas competition. So sad. Do we blame the government? I think so.

Back in the 1960's Hamilton City Council developed an urban renewal project to revitalize the downtown area. Little did they know it would be the beginning of the end for the core. It started with the opening of Jackson Square in 1972 followed by the Stelco Tower in 1973. Standard Life Office Tower in 1983. Copps Coliseum along with the Sheraton Hotel in 1985. Employment was wonderful, especially in the construction sector.

Meanwhile back to this day and age, our "beloved" and "adored" Mayor Andrea Horwath always describes Steel Town as a vibrant city. Excuse me for almost vomiting. I'm very interested to find out what city she is actually talking about. The Hammer is far from lively, sparkling and dynamic. Okay, I did read she now lives in Burlington, Ontario. Now it all comes together. Our "treasured leader" must be referring to Burlington.

The Spectator (Hamilton's Newspaper) had a disturbing and depressing article titled "Our City Is Basically Dying. How do we stop downtown Hamilton's progress from unravelling" on Aug. 29/24. The story described Steel Town becoming a truly dismal and dangerous city. Harassment of shop owners, panhandling, drug use, including break and enters at stores are constant as well as increasing.

Of course we can't forget about the murders, shootings and stabbings that have started to plague The Hammer. One of many comments at the end of the feature was stated by a woman who said she was never afraid of being in the core in the 70's and 80's. She also added, now the city is a shell of it's former self. It's truly sad and disappointing.

It's been indicated many times the core is driving people away. It started to decline in the mid 1990's. I'm one of those individuals that refuse to travel downtown unless it's absolutely necessary. It's been more than a few years since I use to journey to the Hamilton Farmer's Market at Jackson Square, Starpolski's Delicatessen at Barton and Ruth St. along with Pane Del Sole Bakery on John Street North. I would visit each location at least six times a year. Now, no more. See you later, goodbye and farewell. I have permanently faded out.

I would like to reveal one more fact and comment before I wrap this up. The city blunderers have reduced our fire protection since the 1990's. It's disgraceful, unsafe and completely unacceptable.

At any given time, there are three senior officers located throughout the city. Each officer also had a driver. But guess what? If you answered not anymore? You win the cigar. However, that was only the start of the feather brain politicians' cutbacks. The elimination of various apparatus would follow. Cars 6, 8, 11, Arieal Truck 111, Snorkel 106, Pump 2 and Rescue 9 were placed out of commission. The shameful task was performed through attrition. Seven less vehicles and twenty less firefighters on each of the four shifts to handle emergencies. Unquestionably disgusting and inexcusable.

Epilogue

I have lost total delight for the city I once admired, appreciated and liked. For me it was very disturbing and upsetting watching Steel Town go down the toilet over the years. It's changed so much. WHY did this happen? HOW did this happen? I think it's quite obvious.

Mindbender Syndrome

The hardest thing to learn in life is which bridge to cross and which to burn. - David Russell

Have you ever wondered about the choices you have made in life. I'm willing to bet five will get you ten everyone has produced at least one mistake. It's human nature and no one is perfect. Perhaps some misjudgments seemed minor while other bad ideas were very critical. Either way we are not flawless. That is reality.

One of many outstanding, superb and fantastic lines in the 1986 Academy Award Winner movie "Platoon" is when Staff Sgt. Barnes (Tom Berenger 1949-) says "I am reality. There's the way it ought to be. And there's the way it is. Reality is the absolute real world and life."

I had two goals my concluding days of high school. One was become a firefighter for the City of Hamilton, Ontario (I'll get back to that in a moment) and the other was to be Head Coach for a Senior Secondary School football team also in Hamilton. I did accomplish both objectives but they weren't what I expected. The 1969 song titled "Is That All There Is" by Peggy Lee is very relevant and meaningful.

Timing is an enormous component not just in sports but also in our movie of existence and survival. Occasionally people have second thoughts after they have implemented decisions but sometimes it's too late. I've experienced those circumstances more than a few times.

What if my E.A. (Executive Assistant) decided to permanently reside in Youngstown, Ohio with her ex-husband and not return to Hamilton.

What if a long-time friend of mine elected to remain at Dupont in Kingston, Ontario as a technician instead of resigning in his early years.

What if another long-time friend gave a different answer at his final interview for the Metropolitan Toronto Police Dept. circa 1974. Chances are because of his reply he wasn't hired.

What if Adolf Hitler (1889-1945) was accepted into the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Austria in 1907 or 1908 as an artist.

Speaking of interviews, I was fresh out of high school when I had an interview in the final stage of the hiring procedure for the Hamilton, Ontario Fire Dept. in the fall of 1973. The Deputy Chief asked me, "What are your strong qualities?" I replied, "I'm easy going and get along with people." He then asked, "What are your weak features?" I hesitated for a couple of seconds and answered, "My mother says I don't have any patience."

DUH! What a fucking idiot. Did I ever blow it. Obviously, I was never hired. I have always pondered, what if I would've responded with something less stupid and lame brained. I didn't shoot myself in the foot. I blew my head off. However, after two more attempts I was finally hired in 1981.

What if I continued to date my first girlfriend while enrolled in Grade 11 at Westmount Secondary School instead of dumping her and giving no reason. I was a self-centered, selfish jerk.

What if my biological parents decided to raise me as their son and not give me up for adoption.

In 1983 I had a date with a beautiful and very attractive mid-twentyish lady who worked at my bank as a customer service representative. Let's call her Kelly. Meanwhile that was her real name. We went out for dinner (I can't remember where) but nothing transpired into a future relationship. Every so often I wonder, what if we had connected?

What if I didn't go to Kelsey's Roadhouse for a few beers on the Friday summer night in 1984 when I met my ex-wife.

What if I didn't quit the Hamilton Fire Dept. as a first-class firefighter in August of 1987? Quite often I think deeply what if I would've stayed on the job? It was definitely and unquestionably the worst decision or choice (call it what you want) I have every made.

Epilogue

As you can see, I'm a soul-searcher. Over the years I've reflected on more than a few incidents in my life. Maybe a lot of folks are in that similar situation. I will wrap things up and close on this note. A part of me will always wonder "WHAT IF?"

Finally

It's About Time

"Politicians are the lowest form of life on earth...Democrats are the lowest form of politicians." -- George S. Patten (1885-1945)

Just to clarify, Democrats are Liberals.

Most Liberals are extremely dangerous to humanity and communities. The great pretender Justin (please take my picture) Trudeau was at the top of his mob.

I never thought I'd see the day our embarrassing, shameful and nauseating juvenile Prime Minister would resign. I honestly thought he'd never retire because the foolish "little boy" was too self-loving and full of himself. Without a doubt he has created a state of turmoil in Canada.

Sure, he established numerous new jobs if you can call government jobs beneficial to the tax payer. Our youngster implemented Canada's Child Benefit and also reinforced Canada's National Dental Plan. That's fine and dandy, but do the Canadian people realize our country has a deficit of $62 billion and our national debt is $1.4 trillion which snowballs more than $100 million every day.

According to an article by the N.D.P. (New Democratic Party) on May 4/23 it stated our vain adolescent "leader" promised every Canadian would have a doctor in his 2015 campaign. Yeah right. Six million are still looking. Our swindler also pledged affordable housing. Meanwhile the cost of a home has doubled. The con artist also guaranteed clean drinking water. Another tall tale. Thirty-two water advisories were still in effect in twenty-eight communities when this feature was posted.

What this big-headed creature hasn't achieved is dangerous, harmful and violent to our Canadian society than ever before.

His immigration policy and how he ignored the problems at various Canada-U.S. Borders is appalling.

His disgusting disregard for criminal activity and their violent behavior is absolutely frightful. His soft (and I stress soft) on crime attitude is horrendous.

The deceiver's entire neglect on our justice system is also horrifying.

The trickster should have judges elected by the tax payers.

You should all know by now Liberals enjoy taxing people. More proof of that is the crook's Carbon and Capital Gains Tax.

The homeless and poverty situation is a total catastrophe. It's never been so devastating.

After a lot of persuasion, the scammer did increase our armed forces budget a little-bitty.

The Youth Criminal Justice Act (the old Young Offenders Act) is a fucking joke. It should be exterminated, annihilated and extinguished forever! These delinquents truly get away with murder.

Why didn't this shady character lower the costs of cell phones? According to an article on the CBC Jan. 13/23 Canadians pay the highest cell phone rates in the world. Our TV fees are undoubtedly outrageous. Bell and Shaw Direct (Rogers,) are nothing more than scammers also. Our telecommunications needs less limits and more competition to eliminate these monopolies.

Epilogue

I'm optimistic the G.T.A. (Greater Toronto Area) have finally sobered up as well as come to their senses and decided not to vote Liberal. However, you never know which way the wind is blowing with the Canadian electorate. One last thing I must say. When the dishonorable shyster finally leaves the Prime Minister's Office, I hope the door slams his ass!

GOOD RIDDANCE! FOREVER!

Bring On The Festivities

Hello folks. Puritan here. Hope everyone is doing well.

Once again it's the Yuletide season. I've been unproductive since my last rant back in March. A significant factor was I had right knee replacement surgery on June 8th. I'm still in recovery mode but progressing in a positive manner slowly but surely. Putting it mildly the ordeal was one hell of an adventure.

My Executive Assistant (E.A.) conducted an awesome, sensational, extraordinary and outstanding job looking after me. She was caring, sympathetic and selfless...like a Florence Nightingale. A superior caregiver.

Anyway, it's very sad to say the world continues to worsen in mayhem and chaos with no cure on the horizon. When we talk about our own backyard the asinine politicians are, well let's just say, hopeless and pathetic. Hamilton as usual is totally mismanaged and crippled. Ontario is completely negligent and mutilated. Then we have Canada which is an absolute embarrassment and truly butchered. Again, there is no resolution for the illogical idiocy. All we can do is try to survive.

Let's try to forget the turmoil and misery and concentrate on this magnificent time of the year. Enjoy the celebrations such as festivals, Xmas movies and decorations. Most of all relish and adore family as well as friends. Let's not forget about the Christmas cheer and delicious food that makes this time of year so special.

So folks, from my E.A. and myself have a Wonderful Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Toxic Behaviour

The old idea of putting crude sewage into water is now pretty generally discountenanced. Toronto Sanitary Inspector Robert Awde 1896

Prelude

Now and again, when people talk about sewage, some folks are referring to certain politicians. Funny, they both coexist and are well-matched. However, in this rant, I'm dealing with actual sewage. I won't dwell on the waste industries pollution, instead I'll comment on the sewage municipalities discard without any thought of health and safety to the public as well as contaminating the environment. Hard to believe, isn't it? But sadly, it's the truth. Damn sickening.

According to an article in GKP.6 Today.com on Feb. 27/20 Canada has dumped 900 billion litres of raw sewage into the country's waterways since 2013. We all know raw sewage consists of harmful and extremely unhealthy bacteria such as E.coli, flesh eating disease, Hepatitis A as well as Hepatitis C. It sounds like one of Quebec's favourite pastimes is dumping raw sewage into their waterways. On Oct. 23/15 CBC News reported one hundred municipalities from La Bell Province regularly discharge their raw sewage into waterways without treatment or filtration. On Oct. 8/16 CBC News revealed Montreal was planning to dump 8 billion litres of sewage into the St. Lawrence River… I believe they accomplished their goal. The Antarctic newspaper stated on Dec. 21/22 Montreal was once again going to dump 2 billion gallons of raw sewage into it's drinking water.

Then we have Hamilton, Ontario. I've lived there for 66 years. At one time, "The Hammer" was a fairly decent place to live. But for the past twenty plus years, the city has gone down the toilet…no pun intended. Most members of City Council (past and present) have incompetence glittering off their bodies. At times they are truly unconscious ignoramuses. They attempt to manage a city, but the majority couldn't operate a laundromat. The bulk of high-priced bureaucrats who impersonate middle and senior management are also blundering airheads. As in any government regime, it leaves a lot and I mean a lot to be desired.

Some people say Hamilton is known for their waterfalls. That could be true, but lately the settlement has been notorious for many raw sewage leaks that have been discovered. Back in 2018 our "magnificent" city managers noticed raw sewage leaking into Chedoke Creek. They estimated 24 billion litres had been discharged for over four years. In October 2021 353 million litres of wastewater spilled into Hamilton Harbour. Of course our "brilliant officials" blamed the release on rain and surprising enough an equipment failure. Then we have this doozy and sickening incident. In 2023 Hamilton Water Department stated 337 million litres of wastewater discharged into Hamilton Harbour for 27 years.

Remember Sheila Copps. If you don't, it's not significant. She was a M.P. (Member of Parliament) for the Federal riding of Hamilton East from 1984-2004. In 1994 Ms. Copps decided to take a swim in Hamilton Harbour. She was equipped with a snorkel and fins. Her outfil was a heavy duty, thick rubber scuba suit. The reason for her conduct was part of a cleanup program. Sheila said she was actually swimming in shit.

On Nov. 24/20 CBC News reported a different type of discharge. Our "city brains" discovered two leaks, losing nearly one-half a million litres of drinking water a day. Staff refused to say how long (a big secret) it had been going on but "officials" described the leak as fairly substantial. No wonder our water rates constantly increase at high levels year after year. Could it be our bungling and inferior city administrators?

Throughout the years we've seen on numerous occasions Southern Ontario beaches closed due to elevated E.coli and other deadly bacteria. The Health Department claims the cause is excessive rainwater that carries pollution from storm drains to natural swimming areas. I'm inclined to agree with that statement, BUT, what happens to all the raw sewage. Does it evaporate and vanish, never to be seen again?

Epilogue

The politicians and health officials seem to be very carefree about this problem. In my opinion, they don't seem to give a damn. The stuffed shirts and media continue to paint a dismal and grim destiny of the effects of climate change but appear to accept this repulsive form of horrendous contamination of our ecosystem. Once again, our "leaders" thought process is upside down and ass-backwards. Extremely shameful and disgusting. I think we would all agree with George Carlin (1932-2008) when he said, "Why do they bother saying raw sewage. Do some people actually cook that stuff?"

Try To Have A Merrymaking Time

Traditions touch us, they connect us and they expand us...Rita Barreto Craig (age unknown)

Hello folks. Once again that time of year has reached our lives. Unfortunately, 2022 was filled with grim and depressing events such as our health care system. In simple terms it's destroyed and beyond repair. Inflation was born again and the WuFlu (Covid-19) still lingers amongst us. Homelessness appears to be escalating. Our absurd justice system keeps becoming more senseless and illogical. Our little boy who tries so hard to be Prime Minister continues to waste our money (over $1 billion on his G-20 journey) and as usual acts like a fool.

The Nazi Christmas Bashers relentlessly try to make our Christmas traditions obsolete. Tim Allen's new Christmas movie titled "The Santa Clauses" received flak because the customary phrase Merry Christmas was mentioned instead of Happy Holidays. As far as I'm concerned, these Nazis should be placed in exile. Why can't people just sit back and enjoy the festive season rather than being assholes. Face it, that's all they are...fucking assholes.

I hope everyone can find some time and forget about the extreme mess the country and world are in. Enjoy your Yuletide decorations, enjoy the food and drink (remember please don't drink and drive). Most of all enjoy your family and friends. Celebrate the jolly time. It's time to relax, chill-out, unwind and try to appreciate what we have. We still have some things to be thankful for.

So from my E.A. (Executive Assistant) and myself have a wonderful and joyous festive season.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

The Truth Is A Difficult Seeker

"The best things in life are free, but sooner or later the government will find a way to tax them." -- Unknown

Prelude

Abortion and Climate Change have been serious news topics for decades. Both subjects are never-ending. They consist of pro and con advocates. Each lobby can be very bullying and forceful. My belief on abortion is quite simple. The Libertarian Party states "keep your laws off my body", which I absolutely agree with their phrase. Anyway, let's talk about climate change or as it was once called, global warming.

The following is the United Nations (U.N.) definition of climate change. It is caused by long-term shifts in temperature and weather patterns especially caused by human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. Let me just say I have never put much faith into the U.N. I'm not a believer of climate change. I do believe "some things" are happening, but for all the wrong reasons these activists swore by.

Let me explain.

A good friend sent me an email from a Natural News article Aug. 30/19 which stated N.A.S.A. (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) admits that climate change occurs because of changes in the earth's solar orbit and NOT because of SUV's and fossil fuels. They've known for more than 60 years that changes occurring to planetary weather patterns are completely natural and normal. The biggest factor affecting earth's climate is the sun. Proof of that is when I watched a Nova program on T.V. about the solar system and Zachary Quinto (who was the narrator) said, "The aging sun is getting hotter."

I have always maintained N.A.S.A. knows a lot more than what they're telling us. An article in Slay News on Aug. 19/02 specified 1,200 scientists and scholars declared there is no climate emergency. One lead author of the declaration, atmospheric physicist Richard Lindzen, has called the current climate narrative "absurd." The report also stated the earth's climate has varied with cold and warm periods for as long as the planet has existed.

He also said there is no surprise that we are experiencing a period of warming. The write-up also proclaimed carbon dioxide (CO2) has benefits and is not a pollutant. In fact, the report also made known CO2 is very beneficial for nature. Furthermore, there is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and such like natural disasters or making them more frequent.

Last but not least, an article from Infowars on Sept. 26/22 stated a leading climate scientist William Kininmoth said CO2 has almost no effect on global temperature. He claims recent warming is probably the simple result of fluctuations in the ever-changing ocean circulation. The main driver of global temperature is the movement of energy in water, both in oceans and the atmosphere, after evaporation. Mr. Kininmoth is a former consultant to the World Meteorological Organization's Commission for Climatology and former head of the Australian Government's National Climate Center.

I happened to come across the name Michael Shellenberger and found his story quite soothing. He is a well-known author on various issues and was a vocal environmental activist. In 2008, he won the Time Magazine Award "Hero's of the Environment." But now he admits climate change is occurring, but it's not the end of the world.

His position and writings on climate change and environmentalism have received criticism from environmental scientists and academics, who have called his articles bad science and inaccurate. Meanwhile, he has acquired praise from conservative and libertarian groups. In 2020 he published "Apocalypse Never: Why Environmental Alarmism Hurts Us All." Mr. Shellenberger stated climate change is not the essential threat that is portrayed to be in popular media and activism. It certainly sounds like he became fed-up trying to fool the public and agreeing with the extremist's invention.

The adversaries use everything to their advantage. I call it a triple threat. First of all, when certain people read particular stories of the same topic over and over, sooner or later they'll start to believe them. Secondly, let's face reality. Some folks are gullible and need something or someone to have faith in. Remember the twisted cult leaders David Koresh (Branch Davidians) and Jim Jones (People's Temple). Or what about the so-called evangelists Ernest Angley (he died at 99 years old), Benny Hinn, and Peter Popoff. Sneaky Pete sold "holy water" to the public. All five of these crooks lured and manipulated "weak" individuals. The final outcome was the swindlers had complete control of their followers. Furthermore, the media and government have complete and total control over us with their propaganda, tall tales and even lies.

Then there's people like the little Swedish crusader (not so little anymore, she's 19 years old) Greta Thunberg preaching the world is going to end very soon unless we do something about climate change very fast. Go back to bed, my agitator. You need lots of rest.

We can't forget about infamous Justin Trudeau, who is just a little boy and tries to be Prime Minister. He's so crazed and enchanted with climate change, he rammed his ridiculous carbon tax down the throats of Canadians.

Epilogue

My belief of the climate change phenomenon is sincere and elementary…it's nothing more than a scam. Politicians love taxes, and this is another way the dishonest shysters take money out of pockets. I'm also convinced that most of this so-called climate change is transpiring from the heavens. The greenies say the evidence is plentiful. Of course, it is if you read and watch left wing media rubbish.

Instrumental Masquerade

Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build bridges when there are no rivers. Nikita Khrushchev (1894-1971)

Prelude

Politicians crave for your votes and they'll do almost anything to lure you into believing they are the best choice. The legislators will use influential and manipulating phrases such as election promise or campaign promise. I researched both expressions and came upon the following definition. An election promise or campaign promise is a promise or guarantee made to the public by a candidate or political party that is trying to win an election. "Nicely said" but I have to laugh and shake my head in disgust. That statement has absurd flaws. We must never forget we are dealing with politicians. In their own deceitful way they are begging and asking us PLEASE VOTE ME! PRETTY PLEASE! My interpretation is a lot more realistic. The word promise is extremely false and bogus. It should be replaced with attempt or make an effort. The word guarantee is truly and particularly imaginary. It should be exchanged with uncertain. Think about it folks. When was the last time you heard a politician guaranteeing anything for anyone?

Some consultants classify the outcome of promises as fulfilled, fulfilled in part or unfulfilled. I like the wording professional sports teams use on the status of their injured players. They will reveal their players condition as probable, questionable, doubtful or simply stated out. It's a bit more practical. For example, a politician could say, "If elected it's very doubtful our party will increase taxes." Or the self-admirer may say, "It's highly probable we will be pouring more money into our health care system." Those statements are still very hazy but we could expect the rulers to renege on their so-called "promises". However, that would be too honest and it will never be in their playbook. That "special bunch" of know-it-alls are cunning but not crazy.

What prompted me to write this rant was our provincial Premier Doug Ford who has proven to me he's just another carbon copy of other politicians. According to an article in City News on Oct. 3/21 he did succeed in much of the 60 pledges from his 2018 campaign but most of the major "promises" weren't achieved. His "promise" to fix our dilapidated health care system was completely ignored. We all know the program is in massive chaos and serious condition. It's hanging by a thread and in need of immediate repair. Meanwhile he promised $10 billion in treats and goodies for Ontarians during his 2022 campaign. Promises, promises, promises.

Speaking of inducements and bribes, the Fiberals and the N.D.P. (Nimrod Demolition Party) were certainly wheedling or betting said ass kissing the teachers. The N.D.P. "promised" to cap classroom sizes of 24 students from grades 4 to 8 and hire 20,000 teachers including education workers. The Fiberals "promised to cap classroom sizes to 20 students and hire 10,000 teachers. It's quite obvious that both parties didn't (and probably still don't) give a flying fuck about the education system. Their only concern was to manipulate teachers to support their regimes. Very shameful and disgusting.

Ontario can be extremely volatile whenever an election is emerging in the horizon. Some of the electorate is stuck between a rock and a hard place whenever it's time to vote. There are more choices for a left-wing regime than a true and genuine conservative administration. Before the final tally is official sometimes it's difficult to foresee what leadership will reign as rulers.

The 2022 Ontario Provincial Election is in the history books. The eligible voter turnout was a record low of only 43.5%. Ontario had 10.7 million registered voters but less than half cast their ballots. In my riding of Hamilton Mountain just over 40% of the 83,000 eligible voters visited the polling stations.

Epilogue

As usual I was thoroughly annoyed when I heard about the poor showing at the polls. However it finally occurred to me that many people couldn't care less. Do I condemn them? Not anymore. There isn't a trustworthy candidate or political party worth voting for. They all sing the same song and these inferior actors just go through the motions. Most of them are con artists. Therefore I've decided I won't be voting again. What's the purpose? It's just a waste of time.

Energized Infatuation

There may be aliens in our Milky Way Galaxy, and there are billions of other galaxies. The probability is almost certain that there is life somewhere in space. Buzz Aldrin 1930-

Most countries are classified as a state. A state is an organized (I question that) political community under one government. Each nation has four components: population, territory, government and sovereignty. According to Wikipedia the earliest state was established 5,500 years ago. Government is a fundamental factor within a state maintaining law and order. Most laws are necessary for society to function. If they were non-existent society would be dangerous and uncertain. There are three principal types of government: Democracy, Monarchy and Dictatorship. In a Dictatorship society totalitarianism and authoritarianism is a mandatory way of life for it's citizens.

The following is my opinion of some politicians. Not all but a high majority of elected officials. I've always wondered if these legislators are truly human. At times their mentality is crazy and absurd. I think we can all agree their behaviour can be very two-faced. In other words making promises one day and later on backstabbing their voters. A considerable number of bureaucrats are hypocritical, untrustworthy and deceiving. It doesn't matter what level of government they represent. It occurs at all stages, Federal, Provincial and Municipal politics.

These "leaders" know how to "play the game". They usually look very dapper and most of them appear to be somewhat educated individuals. One of their talents is when they are asked a question their response might last three, four or five minutes. Sometimes even longer. The motormouths are either full of hot air or enjoy hearing themselves talk...probably both. Another skill (I consider absolutely marvellous) is these "upstanding" baby-kissers are never found guilty of any wrongdoings they've committed. Periodically these public officials are accused of corruption or unethical behaviour but are never convicted. Remember the 2010 Ontario gas plant scandal starring the two villains Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne. It's like these "honest souls" are bomb proof and own a powerful force-field that prevents them from ever being found guilty of any crime.

These office holders can never be trusted and a major trait they possess is dishonesty. They can be extremely cunning. These "managers" are crafty and full of surprises. Most bureaucrats are spineless varmints. A prime example is an article in the Toronto Sun on Jan. 24/22 titled, "Toronto gun violence skyrockets; no politician will say why". Very disgraceful the truth can't be told. The ship is sinking fast. Another outrageous characteristic the desk jockeys have is their love for taxes. They always deny their adoration for raising or creating new taxes but we all know it's a smokescreen...just another lie. We can't forget about their selfishness. When these money grabbers decide it's time for a raise there isn't any negotiation with other parties, no job performance appraisal or yearly salary increments. These hand shakers make up their own minds and take what they want.

However, I did some research and you'll be glad to know I discovered how male as well as female politicians are created. If individuals (in their early twenties) show any indications of greed, dishonesty or craving authority they will be selected, beamed up and prepped by the high council of an alien planet called Puppetrey. It's been happening for three centuries but more frequently in the past six decades.

The celestial body is mineral rich with many large deposits of gold, silver, nickel and copper. The planet is the size of Canada and 230 million miles from earth. The riches generate a massive desire for wealth and fortune for every visitor. It's part of the aliens mind control program. The future "leaders" adventure lasts one hour. Part of the agenda is they're subjected to a powerful mind manipulation machine called Marxy. The contraption penetrates and enhances additional deviant behaviour into their brains specifically the cerebrum because it controls thinking, planning, problem-solving, reasoning as well as judgment.

The final session of the project is when the guests are injected with a drug called C.E.D.U.H. The compound represents corruption, evasiveness, dishonesty, unethical actions, and hypocrisy. Once again the mixture concentrates on the cerebrum. The entire experiment was invented by the alien elders many centuries ago. The executives are extremely happy with the results. The success rate is 92%. When the process is finally finished the future politicians are returned to earth and pursue a career in politics. They recall the trip but only as a bizarre and twisted dream.

Shameful Failure

"I once thought losing my confidence was the worst thing that could happen; then I lost my faith." -- Bobby Vee (1943-2016)

Prelude

For the past few years, it's been difficult to be a loyal and devoted Canadian. At times, I consider myself stateless. Of course, our Boy Wonder or should I say Boy Bungle in Ottawa has never proven to me he is a worthwhile or competent person to be Prime Minister. I deem that as a complete farce. As I've said before, he is an embarrassment and disgrace to this country. Do I have to remind you he financially compensated Omar Khadar who was a bloodthirsty terrorist of I.S.I.S. "Our leader" said the barbaric savage's case was a Charter of Rights and Freedoms issue? I don't believe that one bit. "Mr. Fantastic" will never convince me of this foolish and mindless decision. Isn't it "funny" how that statute functions at times. I wish our "beloved one" would do a lot of people a favour. Resign and return to teaching white river rafting. Anyway, enough about the "do-gooder" and misfit.

There are many problems that need massive repair in Canada, and one of them is the justice system. It's completely absurd…a real fucking joke. Let's talk about the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) for a moment. It was established in 2003. It replaced the Young Offenders Act (Y.O.A.), which was created in 1984 by our laughable ruler's "father" and his Liberal gang.

The Y.C.J.A. produces a separate criminal justice system for young persons and promotes adolescents to become law-abiding citizens. It also encourages having those teenagers take responsibility for their actions. The system realizes the level of maturity is not the same degree as an adult. Interesting. Is the government saying a 16-year-old who murders someone doesn't really know what he or she was doing because of the "maturity factor"? As far as I'm concerned, that's a crock of shit. What happened to the old saying "do the crime, do the time." But then again the defence lawyers will, without a doubt, take complete advantage of that legislation.

Anyway, here's the latest example of an "immature" young person committing a horrendous crime. On Feb. 4/22 a Grade 12 Toronto High School student was murdered by a 14-year-old juvenile. Police described it as an execution style killing. The boy was charged with murder and attempted murder.

In 2014 a 14-year-old male youth shot and killed a 13-year-old girl in Toronto, Ontario. He was convicted of murder but only sentenced to three years because of the Y.C.J.A. Yep, justice served. You tell me, is that right?

Our country is blessed with the upside down and asinine Parole Board of Canada (P.B.C.). Their latest travesty was Feb. 11/22 when the Toronto Sun reported Rohan Range was able to leave prison for two months to attend "personal development" at a community facility. All he did was slaughter two sisters in 1995. Sounds like he has a bit of a temper.

Another revolting story by the nauseating P.B.C. was about Marcello Palma. He murdered three prostitutes in Toronto, Ontario in 1996. For some strange reason, he shot each woman in their head with a .357 Magnum. He was given a "life sentence" but as of now this lunatic is living at a halfway house in Barrie, Ontario. The P.B.C. are such "caring" people.

Corey Christopher Tremblett murdered his former 17-year-old girlfriend in Nova Scotia. He was convicted of second degree murder in 1998. In 2018, he was granted four unescorted temporary absences and in late 2021 he was allowed day parole for six months.

Another sleazebag is Brian Edward Abrosimo who was convicted of sexual assaults, sexual assault with a weapon, unlawful confinement and forcible confinement. He was sentenced to 14 years and 4 months in 2004. He also attacked an eleven-year-old girl. He now resides in a community residential facility somewhere in British Columbia. Maybe once the P.B.C. got to know him, he was an all right guy.

Graham James was a former hockey coach and sentenced to 7 years in prison for multiple sex charges of players he instructed in the 1990's. He was granted full parole in 2016 and lives at a halfway house in Montreal. I wonder if there is an arena close by?

This last case is a perfect example how this outrageous system is completely deplorable. In 2020 Donald Possy received day parole in Montreal despite having a high risk of reoffending. All his problem was he's a long-time sex offender and has a history of child luring. Obviously, the P.B.C. doesn't give a flying fuck about public safety.

These are only a few. Trust me, the list goes on and on. There are many dangerous people walking the streets, concentrating on their prey and ready to attack.

Epilogue

The P.B.C. is disgusting and shameless. Their insanity must create constant havoc for a lot of victims' families. It almost seems this preposterous commission shows pity and feels sorry for these horrendous criminals. Numerous occasions show the punishment doesn't fit the crime, and we can thank the non-elected judges for their appalling decisions. Some of these magistrates give ridiculous and light sentences to violent demons. With Liberals controlling our destiny, we will see more of our justice system collapse. Don't be surprised if the heinous Paul Bernardo gets some sort of parole sooner or later. Any bets?

My Head Continues To Spin

"Life is full of circles" - Nora Roberts (1950-)

Prelude

I know everyone is weary and certainly had enough of the Wu Flu or as other people refer to it as Covid-19. Wait a minute. Not everyone is sick and tired of the chaos. The pharmaceutical companies are enjoying this turmoil. I find it very strange that hardly no one calls this virus the Wuhan Flu. Is it racist to say Wuhan Flu? Either way the government and media has drilled into our heads the name Covid-19 (as well as other things) is the appropriate name. I wonder how long the high priced help of W.H.O. (World Health Organization) took to create that handle. You must remember they're part of the United Nations and we all know how ambitious, successful as well as effective the U.N. really is. Have conditions actually changed for the good in Third World countries?

You may recall I wrote a rant last year titled "You Be The Judge". Since then I'm still confused and feel uncertain about the Wu Flu. Once again, before you call me "whatever" I realize this virus is for real and sadly individuals have passed away. The Covid-19 numbers in Ontario between Dec. 25/21 to Jan. 1/22 had almost 100,000 people tested positive. We all know the Golden Years folks are more vulnerable to contact this Wu Flu than the younger generations. In fact they're more susceptible to catch any sickness.

Back in 1999 I was afflicted with the flu like I've never experienced before. I didn't eat for five days and slept (I kid you not) 22 hours a day. The only time I got up out of bed was to have a couple sips of water and a few drags off a cigarette. On occasion I would go to the washroom and my bowel movements were a black liquid. Finally I forced myself to see my doctor. He told me I was on the verge of pneumonia and threatened he would hospitalize me if I didn't start to eat immediately. To this day I still say it. If was in my eighties or nineties I would've died. But because I was 45 years old my system was able to combat the virus and I finally recovered.

Now comes my question period. Why did people test positive after they received their two shots? Why is it N.H.L. (National Hockey League) players who sit on the bench are not required to wear masks? Another example was the Scotties Curling Tournament in Thunder Bay, Ontario back on Jan. 28/22 to Feb. 6/22. The female curlers weren't wearing masks and social distancing wasn't practiced at all by the participants. However, Ontario was "in" a lockdown until Jan. 31/22.

One sporting event that had me totally befuddled was the World Cup qualifying soccer game played on Jan. 30/22 at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario. The province was still in a lockdown but our (buck a beer) Premier and his gang decided to let the game proceed with more stringent pandemic restrictions. Instead of full capacity (24,000) they only allowed half the amount of spectators.

As usual every morning I sit on my living room couch, drink my coffee and watch T.S.N. sports highlights from the night and/or day before. I saw the feature from that soccer match and shook my head in disbelief. The 12,000 fans were packed into the north side of the stadium like sardines. Hmm. Where was the social distancing? Plus what baffled me to a greater extent was I noticed a lot of spectators weren't wearing masks. I'm assuming the fans had to show their vaccination certificates but the fearful media had stated even people who are fully vaccinated are still testing positive with Covid-19. How does that happen?

I felt sorry for the folks who stood outside in frigid temperatures waiting to receive their Wu Flu kits. However, I shook my head in disgust when I read our "responsible" government ran out of the devices. Yep, only the fools at the House of Commons or Queens Park could pull a boner like that.

Then we have two other caring individuals who would thoroughly love to command and rule Ontario. New Democratic Party (NDP) queen Andrea Horvath and Liberal overseer Steven Del Duca. Of course they have to give their "knowledge and mastery" on the issue. These two leftists wanted all certificates to require a third dose. What's next? As usual they're trying to make themselves look like real honest to goodness thoughtful and considerate saviours.

A very good friend of mine sent me an e-mail three weeks ago that I found intriguing. The Herland Report indicated Israel had over 90% of their population vaccinated but Israeli hospitals were filled with Covid-19 patients. Figure that one out.

Media and government continued to install fear and paranoia into our minds. In fact my neighbour wore a mask when she was outside working in her garden. Now the latest I heard governments are treating the virus as history.

Epilogue

I'm still in a stupor about this whole non-stop misadventure. At times I wonder if it's overplayed. You do realize the government and media have mysterious powers to make people overreact as well as panic. Sometimes I speculate if this flu was "slightly" exaggerated. I recently read Omicron has two other variants, BA-2 and BA-4. Here we go again. Our "leaders" and the Fourth Estate will have another field day controlling as well as placing us in a state of fear. Let's hope it's all bogus. Time will tell.

The Inception of the Antique Sideshow

All the crap they tell you about...getting joy and having a kind of wisdom in your golden years - it's all tripe. Woody Allen (1935-)

Prelude

The experts say life has three stages. My E.A. (Executive Assistant) and I as well as most of my friends have entered the Third Stage also known as the Golden Years. This portion of our lives is considered to be the age between 65 and 80 plus years old. Sadly physical, emotional and cognitive limitations start to develop. Bones become thinner and brittle. We may have heart problems. Our brain and nervous system may slow down. We could also see a change in our digestive system. Other geriatric specialists say the real Golden Years are between the ages of 40 and 60 years old. Most folks are physically fit (not yet experiencing any aches or pains) and settled into their lifestyles. They don't think about their sunset years. I feel the age bracket between 18 and 30 were my "Golden Years". That era consisted of a lot of fun and pleasure.

Last November 11 I was sitting at my table (that's where I do all of my writing) looking out the living room window daydreaming. I do that quite often. I was thinking it had been fifty years to that day I took my very first love to the Hamilton High School Football Championship at Ivor Wynn Stadium. It was traditional the championship game be played on Remembrance Day. Fifty years! Fifty fucking years. Absolutely astonishing and more so very hard to believe. That's half a century. On numerous occasions it's difficult to swallow that I'm in my 68'th year. However, it doesn't take long for me to re-enter reality because of all my annoying aches and pains that have visited my body as well as making a permanent residence in my anatomy. Never imagined this would ever happen.

Prior to having an appendectomy in May of 2011 my next traumatic adventure was January 5, 2022...yeah Happy New Year! I injured my back about twenty years ago (I worked a lot of physical jobs) and it came back to haunt me. My back had been bothering me all day so I was popping different pills to eliminate the pain.

At six p.m. I was laying on my bed watching T.V. I had to get up because nature was calling. I let out a loud scream of pain and quickly realized I couldn't stand up. The pain was unbearable and felt like I was paralyzed...extremely frightening. My E.A. phoned 911 and help was on the way...paramedics as well as the fire department arrived within a few moments. They rolled my body onto a backboard then placed me on a gurney and the ambulance transported me to the hospital. On my way to Juravinski a paramedic injected a shot of Hydromorphone into my arm to ease the pain.

As usual the emergency room was very busy. There were at least four ambulances with patients waiting to be seen...I thought lordy lordy Fordy was going to fix that problem. Typical politician. Talk the talk but many times doesn't walk the walk.

During my hospital visit I was given Hydromorphone two more times mixed with my I.V. I didn't see a doctor until 9:00 p.m. and blood work was done on me around 11:00 p.m. I was hoping for a CT scan but no such luck. Probably because I had previously mentioned I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in L4L5 years ago.

Throughout my stay I was stoned but the pain lingered. They discharged me at 1:30 a.m. and I was obviously still bombed. My E.A. drove us to an all-night drug store to purchase more medication prescribed by the emergency room doctor. When we arrived home I immediately went to bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was out like a light.

My family doctor returned my call (which I placed on January 5) on January 7. He was a bit confused about my misadventure because of the lack of information from the hospital. Anyway, he made an M.R.I. appointment referral for me...I'm still waiting for that call. Great health care system eh but $1billion for the ridiculous L.R.T. My back pain has decreased but I still continue to suffer pain in the back of my thighs.

Epilogue

I should be more appreciative and grateful I can still walk, talk and act like a jerk at times. A few of my friends have passed away, a long-time buddy uses a walker to get around and another friend has had heart surgery. Almost everyone I know is on some sort of medication. If anyone knows where that Fountain of Youth is located PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Time To Rejoice

Hello folks. Another year has scooted by and will be part of our history very soon. The past few years have been challenging and 2021 wasn't any different. The Wuhan Flu (Covid-19) is plaguing everyone and doesn't seem to disappear for good. Canadian voters sauntered to the polls and re-elected the "beloved saviour" Justin (never worked a day in his life) Trudeau as Prime Minister...prepare yourselves for more bedlam. A frequently used word in the 1970's has resurfaced. It's called inflation. Last but not least turmoil and chaos continues to distress many nations especially third world countries. Hmm, I thought the purpose of the United Nations was to eliminate all that mayhem.

Okay. Enough of depressing reality. It's suppose to be the most wonderful time of the year. So, let's try to forget all the misery plus the bullshit and develop a joyous mood. You do realize it's "tis the season". Enjoy your family, friends, and neighbours. It's time to relax, unwind and just take it easy. Eat, drink and be merry. Who cares if you add a few pounds on to your figure. Once again "tis the season". Don't let the Wu Flu put a damper on this time of year. Decorate your home inside and outside. Make you place look very Christmassy. You'll be surprised how much it will enhance your festive frame of mind. The Dollar Store has a superb selection and numerous Christmas paraphernalia at very reasonable prices.

I know our country requires considerable improvements in many categories but let's try to appreciate and be grateful for what we have. From my E.A. (Executive Assistant) and myself MERRY CHRISTMAS as well as HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Please do everyone a favour...If you get high don't drive.

Buddy

Benjamin Whichcote (1609-1683)

Prelude

Most of us live beside or across the street from neighbours. It's an unavoidable situation if you live in a residential area. Even folks living in apartment complexes have neighbours. They're not as noticeable but still present. The only way to completely avoid neighbours is to live in an isolated sector. On occasion a neighbour dispute might happen. However, most neighbours are congenial and sociable. It only takes one person to neglect the upkeep of their home and tarnishes the reputation of the rest of the neighbourhood. Letting your grass grow so high it requires a scythe to cut it or creating a junkyard could make other homeowners' property depreciate in value. Nevertheless, most people display self-respect and pride in their homes.

My E.A. (Executive Assistant) and I have lived in a middle-class neighbourhood on the central mountain of Hamilton, Ontario since 2001. Before we purchased our home both of us noticed in the real estate listing the seller mentioned wonderful neighbours. We quickly discovered the neighbours were wonderful people. Throughout the years some folks have come and gone for various reasons. In spite of that the new neighbours continue to be friendly and keep their properties looking very presentable. It seems like a natural trend.

Everyone (almost everyone) will help out each other and lend assistance when needed. We were without a car for almost three weeks and my next door neighbour was kind enough to loan her car to us whenever we needed to go out. Another neighbour repaired some copper plumbing pipe in our home. During the winter months I will remove snow from a few of my neighbours sidewalks and driveways using my snow blower. I don't ask for anything but a lot of them will show their appreciation by giving me some sort of gratuity. We know our immediate neighbours in a favourable manner. They are very nice, pleasant and helpful. Except for one.

"Buddy" is light years away from being obliging and eager to help people. I nicknamed him "Buddy" because of a sarcastic or mocking nature he displays. I know he's been called worse and I'm not the only one who knows he just doesn't fit into our neighbourhood. He seems very full of himself and it's all about, guess who? "Buddy"

My final straw with my vain neighbour happened during the spring of 2021. I was pounding the pavement in my neighbourhood collecting signatures for a petition to install speed bumps which will be a future rant. The city refers speed bumps as speed cushions. Will this political correctness bullshit ever end? Anyway, "Buddy" had previously told me he would probably support this issue. The day I asked him to sign the request he stood on his front porch and I was standing on the driveway. He walked into the house to obtain a pen and mumbled something to his wife. Suddenly he insisted in a stern voice, "We're not interested in speed bumps" and slammed the door on me. I was completely livid and outraged. My blood was boiling.

Of course I was disappointed I never received his support but what really infuriated me was his absolute rudeness and uncivil behaviour. In other words, he was a fucking asshole. I wasn't some salesperson or politician soliciting. I've known the son of a bitch for ten years. I'm his neighbour. Once again, I totally condemn him for his utter discourtesy and disrespectful behaviour. I definitely know where I "stand" with him now. Maybe we'll all be lucky and the big-headed jerk will move. We can only hope.

Epilogue

I consider myself a very neighbourly and friendly type of guy. I try to get along with people. If I'm capable of the task I will volunteer my services to give assistance to my neighbours. I understand some people just want to mind their own business and in essence not be bothered with anyone. That's okay. To each their own. However that's not in my recipe. I've owned four homes during my existence and can honestly say none of the immediate neighbours demonstrated an attitude like "Buddy". I know there are a lot of people like "Buddy" in our fucked-up world not just as a neighbour but also in the work place. Either way life goes on.

Declination

Writer's note: "Hush Hush My Precious Taxpayer" will be written at a later date.

"No doubt about it, things have certainly changed." Dick Anderson (1946-)

Change is inevitable. Sooner or later it's sure to happen. I think my generation (I'm in my 68th year) has seen more change than other peer groups. Change can be positive and beneficial. However, on the flipside it can be useless and harmful. Sometimes we can use the word adjustment. Many businesses (big and small) "improve" or modify their goods and services. Look at food for example. Specifically chocolate bars and cookies. The quality still might be there but the quantity has without a doubt diminished. Business owners have two objectives. One is to make money. The other is wanting customers to return to their operations and purchase their items or services.

As I write this rant the Wuhan Flu is still lingering and some proprietors continue to experience adversity. I've always considered the virus serious but how serious? Anyway, our political saviors think they can fix anything. In this case with money...of course our money. Let's not forget our "Knights In Shining Armour" honestly think they can change the weather. As a long time good friend of mine mentioned a while back their next agenda will be to change gravity. It wouldn't surprise me. Sadly they come across as know-it-alls or legends in their own minds.

I realize it's difficult but let's forget about these wiseacres for a moment. You would expect during today's hardships businesses would go out of their way and cater to the consumer. In other words, provide top-notch customer service and quality products. A few weeks ago I encountered a stressful adventure.

My journey started at Walmart on Upper James Street in Hamilton, Ontario. My watch needed a battery. I can't live without a watch ticking away on my left wrist. Lately I haven't been a "big fan" of this store but I still like their prices. When I entered the big box enterprise (just out of curiosity) I decided to look at new watches, but was in total disbelief at what I saw. The once huge display section was now a measly shelf of a few watches with very little styles. I was dumbfounded. After a few minutes of disappointment I decided to buy a six dollar battery. I also chose to purchase some pens and Equate Metamucil. The multi-million dollar conglomerate was (as usual) sold out of those items. I was pissed off but the real annoyance and irritation was only about to begin.

As I approached the cash out area my anger started to escalate. Once again history was repeating itself. Only three-quarters of the checkouts were open and the aisles were five deep with patrons. I waited over fifteen minutes in line. A manager was standing at the end of my aisle observing the situation. I turned around and started to verbally display my displeasure to her including stating the store was going downhill fast. When I finished venting (it was no more than thirty seconds) the woman replied, "There's nothing I can do". When I returned home I attempted to install the battery into my watch but it was hopeless. I couldn't pop open the back of the watch and decided to visit a jewelry store.

Frustration appeared to be the word for the day. I walked into an established jewelry store located at the north end of a strip mall once called Mountain Plaza. The original mall was a terrific place to shop...it had a lot of specialty stores. However Walmart expanded and PRESTO the majority of shops vanished...only a very few survived. Anyway after waiting a couple of minutes a saleswoman approached me and asked, "Can I help you?"

I placed the battery on the glass counter and asked, "Will you install this battery into my watch?" Her reply was, "We only install our own batteries."

I was shocked and yelled, "YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY?" In an irritated voice I asked her, "How much are your batteries?"

She answered, "Twelve dollars."

Now I was ready to go ballistic but somehow I left the store in silence but my blood pressure was in overdrive. I couldn't believe what had just happened and thinking where the fuck is the customer service.

Later on I laughed and thought the sales clerk is a very stupid, stupid woman. A complete and total idiot. She could've made some money but instead decided to be a moron. I was under the impression a lot of businesses were struggling because of the Wuhan Flu (maybe I should call it Covid-19) obviously not this joint. Either way if this alleged business does go "tits-up" all I can say is "Oh well. Serves you right."

My EA (Executive Assistant) and I bought a new washing machine. We discovered another prime example of less quality and customer service. First of all, the hot and cold water hoses cost extra...I kid you not. Secondly the complete owner's manual would be located online not in the customary booklet attached to the appliance.

One more bitch and I'll be out of your hair. I use to purchase some of my clothes at Marks Work Warehouse, specifically long and short sleeve tee-shirts. The material use to be a superior and high quality 1oo% cotton. Now the fabric is still 100% cotton but thin and cheaper. It's safe to say they joined the new infested group called, "Not give a shit about quality anymore."

Epilogue

Welcome to our new world where quality and various customer services are plunging downhill at an alarming rate. Merit and virtue seem to be things of the past. As the lyrics in the 1967 song, "Live For Life" sung by Jack Jones state "Yesterday's a memory (gone for good, forever) and tomorrow is a guess" are very true. As usual businesses and companies thrive on the almighty dollar. What's ahead for the consumer...tomorrow is a guess. Maybe sooner or later when individuals purchase a new home it won't have a furnace...they'll have to buy the unit separately. However it's very relieving to know not everything changes. Politicians make sure of that by always raising our taxes.

You Be The Judge

I'm confused. Really, really confused. Adam Gilchrist (1971-)

Prelude

Life is full of uncertainty and most of the time is a very puzzling place. Of course government and media work in cahoots to amplify certain current events. A quote by Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860) makes total sense of my statement. "Exaggeration of every kind is as essential to journalism as it is to dramatic art, for the object of journalism is to make events go as far as possible." That paragraph is extremely realistic. Why not "play up" the story? The populace, will, without a doubt become more fascinated and interested. It's human nature. Individuals don't want dull and boring news. They want exciting and stimulating features. If the truth has to be stretched so be it. With regard to government they possess very unique and various tactics. One of their schemes is confusion.

First of all let me say the Wuhan Flu (or as other folks call it Covid-19) is for real. There is no doubt in my mind it has invaded the world. Where it came from, well, I think all eyes look at China but we'll never know. Anyway at times how serious is this virus in Ontario. We've seen a lot of smoke and mirrors from our governments since day one of this flu. Now hold on. Before you want my head on a platter hear me out. Unquestionably it's very sad people have died from this disease. I don't wish that on anyone. Nevertheless let's take a look at a few facts.

On Jan.21/21 I travelled to Staples because I needed writing paper. They stated online they were open for in store shopping but when I attempted to enter the premises I was refused admission. The staff member told me only curbside pickup was authorized. In spite of that I watched three people walk into the premises. When I asked the employee about the three individuals he said Staples was permitting customers to drop-off shipping items for Purolator and FedEx. Meanwhile, moments before I walked into the L.C.B.O. (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) and bought a bottle of Cherry Brandy without any problems. I'm very confused.

We always hear about this new phrase called social distancing. Does anyone actually partake in keeping six feet away from each other. Certainly not in the grocery stores where I shop. All the "experts" including politicians stress that rule but very few people abide by the regulation. Since I'm on that topic, what about NHL (National Hockey League) players. When and where does social distancing play into this game. Players are packed in their respective benches next to each other. At the end of the game the winning team will congratulate their goaltender. The distance is so close they could kiss each other. I also read that teams will be allowed to dine in restaurants together as one big group. I'm very confused.

To continue my puzzlement, I read an article in Global News on Jan.28/21 that 6.3 million travellers have entered Canada and no one was ordered to be quarantined. According to the Toronto Sun some passengers have flown into Toronto from places such as India or Nigeria to visit family or pursue an education and are free as the wind with no stipulations. A lady from India was quoted, "I didn't have a test but "they" took my number." The woman's 14 day quarantine policy was on the honour system. Ontario Premier Doug Ford wanted tighter restrictions for Pearson Airport but our "beloved" Trudeau who "manages" the country ignored his request. Once again I'm very confused.

Speaking of politicians, they and some high ranking officials decided to pay no attention to the advice of their government who preached it wasn't safe to travel and stay at home. Maybe these "special" humans are immune to the virus. People like that who sit high and mighty should be showing an example but then again how serious is this problem. I'm very confused.

I've always thought Stats Canada contains some fictitious data. It's quite comical how they produce the game "Fun With Figures". That gang amazes me how they can manipulate and have us believing one plus one equals three. I wonder if the daily Covid-19 information board is similar to the way Statistics Canada conducts their totals. How do these human calculators arrive at outrageous numbers. I'm talking about the write-up in CP24 news on Nov.12/20. These people projected 3500 new Covid-19 cases by Nov.22/20 and would exceed by 6500 cases by mid December 2020 in Ontario. What evidence do they have? Do they look into a crystal ball and predict this turmoil? Or maybe they want to continue to install fear, terror and paranoia into a lot of citizens. Either way, I'm very confused.

Speaking of "Fun With Figures" a good friend of ours mentioned to my E.A. (Executive Assistant) and myself a couple of mind-blowing stories. His father was filled with the dreaded C word (yes, Cancer) and recently died. R.I.P. Now get this. The authorities officially declared his death was due to Covid-19. The second feature is just as corrupt and dishonest as the first one. He also stated a friend waited in line for a Covid-19 test. After three hours his buddy decided to leave without undergoing the test. A day or two later he received a phone call from the Health Department stating he tested positive for Covid-19. Talk about a clear-cut case of fraudulence. But once again, I'm very confused.

A good friend of mine sent me an interesting email a couple months ago. It was a graph from the Government of Canada Fluwatch. "Oddly" it showed there were only 41 actual flu cases in Canada (yes in Canada not just Ontario) from Nov.29/20 to Dec.5/20. It was a drop of 98.7% from the six year average. Would our trusting government be padding the Covid-19 numbers with our yearly flu cases to increase the quantity? Is it more Fun With Figures? Would our ethical government actually do such an underhanded thing like that? I'm very confused.

The same friend who sent me the Fluwatch graph also forwarded an article from the Summit News which was published on Nov.18/20. The write-up was titled, "Top Pathologist Claims Coronavirus Is The Greatest Hoax Ever Perpetrated On An Unsuspecting Public." Dr. Roger Hodkinson was addressing government officials in Alberta. He stressed that the Covid-19 was utterly unfounded pubic hysteria driven by the media and politicians. He also mentioned nothing could be done to stop the spread of the virus except trying to protect older and vulnerable people. It's politics playing medicine. Dr. Hodkinson also said social distancing and masks are useless. Very interesting points he makes.

Some Medical experts are now claiming a possible third wave variant of the virus is going to join us while most of Canada is no longer under lockdown. Are the medical people completely truthful about that statement? Or are they and the media once again attempting to place more mayhem into society? If they are honest and factual why is the government starting to open up everything? Furthermore I continue to see T.V. commercials telling everyone the Covid-19 virus is deadly and everyone should stay at home until they receive the vaccine. I'm very confused.

Epilogue

It's been a hell of a ride with this flu and yes at times I ponder if it's been overplayed. Politics and media can be a depressing combination. I'm the first to admit the newspaper articles I've used for this rant could be exaggerated. Like the rest of us I hope this flu will disappear forever. However I'm still very confused.

Yuletide Greetings

Hello folks. Once again it's that time of the season to celebrate. However 2020 has been, to say the least troublesome and terrible for everyone, some people in more ways than one. Covid-19 or also known as the Wuhan Flu has been completely controlling our lives. I will write my thoughts about the virus in a rant next year.

Sadly my E.A. (Executive Assistant) and I had to cancel our annual Saturday afternoon Christmas get together with friends because of the bug. The once jovial holiday period will be very different this year and all we can do is try to display a sense of humour.

As usual some dignitaries such as Queen Elizabeth, Pope Francis and our juvenile "leader" Justin (please will someone take my picture) Trudeau will customarily deliver their Christmas messages of hope and optimism as they do every year...it's like a broken record. Hmm, I just wonder what their objective will be. But you know what? My view on their content or whatever they spew out this time never changes. It's the S.O.S. Their rhetoric never ceases to amaze me. They are always trying to verbally impress the people.

In spite of all that, it's time to rejoice even if it's only for a week or two. Enjoy your time with family and friends. Enjoy your Christmas dinner, adult beverages, baked goods and treats. Eat, drink and be merry. Try to erase the confusion and disruption that has been forced upon us. At the minimum place this chaos on the back burner and attempt to relish this time of year.

As usual from my E.A. and yours truly PLEASE have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Age of Collapse: A Journey To Remember

Never underestimate the incompetence of government. James Cook (1728-1779)

Prelude

Politicians are few and far between but unfortunately they're a part of everyday lives. Many of these power hungry rulers think they always have the correct answer for every issue. A lot of them live in some sort of fantasy world. Sometimes their decisions depend on which way the "wind is blowing." Not everyone can become a politician. It takes a certain individual to enter and succeed in the political theatre. I have no idea if these legislators inherit a magical gift or they develop the talent throughout the early years of their life. Elected officials skill can be quite amazing especially when they answer a question. Their reply may go on for two or three minutes, some times even longer. Without a doubt these hand shakers are a certain and special breed.

Back in October of this year I decided to shop at the Hamilton Farmers Market and Starpolskis Delikatacy on a Saturday morning. That meant I had to travel downtown into the heart of Hamilton. My first stop was the Market. While I travelled along York Blvd. I noticed numerous tents set up on the sidewalk of First Ontario Center. I said out loud, "These must be the tent people." I've seen pictures and news clips about these folks but never encountered this type of homelessness.

I've watched our "beloved" Mayor Fred Eisenberger on TV a few times talking about these unlucky individuals. Each and every time the L.R.T. (Light Rail Transit) conductor sings the same song. He INSISTS no one should have to live like that. Such a "caring leader." Whenever I hear him say those kind-hearted words my response never changes. If he actually and truly cared about those people this head honcho should invite a group of them to stay at his home. Now that would be a magnificent and a true Christian act of caring.

Our "sympathetic" mayor was quoted in a Global News article on July 22/20 and stated some people just won't leave. Really? I wonder why? Think about it Fred. Where the hell are they going to go! Despite that, the problem created a major public health complication specifically with unsanitary conditions.

Over the years I've seen our judicial system (more than a few times) become an ass backwards and disgusting bleeding heart liberal sideshow. On July 30/20 the court ruled they city was barred from forcing people to pack their tents. But suddenly on October 9/20 the court injunction was lifted and out of the blue the city was allowed to enforce their no camping bylaw. It amazes me how the misfortune originated.

Our "leader" also said in the article that the provincial government has to "pick up" the slack of social services. Here we go again. Politicians bellyaching and whining WE NEED MORE MONEY! My advice to our "admired" "King" is stop wasting tax payers hard earned cash on absolutely useless, foolish and crackpot projects. I've said it before and I'll say it again, EXTREMELY SHAMEFUL!

I finished my business at the Market and continued my excursion along James St. North. Just before I turned eastbound onto Barton St. I noticed two attractive young women walking southbound on James St. holding hands. I thought, have things ever changed. But then I remembered the Seinfeld episode where the popular line was "Not that there's anything wrong with that."

I was now headed to my deli. As soon as I passed Victoria Ave. I immediately observed Barton St. hadn't changed since my last "visit." Possibly more run-down. The first thing I thought of was Matthew Green. Remember him? He was a "crusader" and councillor for Ward 3 from 2014-2018. His attitude was going to inject new life into Barton Street. But like so many other "thoughtful" politicians he said a lot about nothing. Personally I think he used his short-lived municipal political career as a stepping stone to fulfill bigger and better objectives or shall I say more power, control and authority. If that was his plan it definitely worked in Green's favour. Now the "sincere" advocate has a MP (Member of Parliament) position in the same area with the N.D.P. (New Democratic Party).

Now the ward has another idealist. Her name is Nrinder Nan who was elected in 2018. As I drove along Barton St. it didn't take me long to realize she hasn't done a damn thing to enhance the gloomy and bleak district of the city. Ms. Nan might have added more planter boxes and other senseless items to annoy vehicle owners but really is it logical? What good does that do? We're talking about rejuvenating business. I do feel sorry for the few hard working store owners who try to maintain their businesses and keep them afloat. Do the councillors really care? Well, looking at Barton Street's track record over the years I don't think they give a rat's ass. The bureaucrats will say, in all honesty they're deeply concerned but you must remember one thing about politicians. On "occasion" they do lie.

It was strange not to see any hookers standing on the street corners during my short and depressing trek. Maybe the women are smart enough and have decided to focus on some other kind of employment. Speaking of smart, some of our City Hall so called brain power may say Covid-19 (or as other people refer to it as the Wuhan Flu) hasn't helped the Barton Street dilemma. If they have that belief I have two words for them, BULL SHIT! Some things don't change and the dilapidated Barton Street is one of them.

Epilogue

All politicians talk the talk but it's very nauseating only a few walk the walk. At one time I enjoyed and was devoted to this city. I was proud to be a Hamiltonian. However now I compare it to the 1965 Barry McGuire song "Eve of Destruction."
